UCSF Alumni Weekend 2026

Upon arrival at UCSF’s Mission Bay campus, check in at the front entrance of the William J. Rutter Center to receive your name badge and program book. Alumni Weekend staff are also available to assist with any questions.

Chancellor Sam Hawgood will open Alumni Weekend with an update on UCSF’s latest achievements and strategic priorities. Following his remarks, Stephen Hauser, MD, recipient of the 2025 Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, will share how his pioneering work in redefining the treatment of multiple sclerosis has transformed patients’ lives and advanced global standards of care.

Hear from the deans of UCSF’s four schools and the Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs in a thought-provoking conversation moderated by Catherine Lucey, MD, MACP, UCSF’s executive vice chancellor and provost. This dynamic session will provide insights into the strategic vision and priorities that shape the future of health education and care at UCSF.

The Half-Century Club (HCC) Reunion Luncheon* brings together graduates from the classes of 1976 and earlier across all UCSF schools, plus the Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs and the UCSF/San Francisco State University Graduate Program in Physical Therapy. This tradition creates a shared space to reflect on our rich history and culture.

*This event is complimentary for each HCC alum and one guest; additional guests may attend for $25.

Discovery Talks spotlight UCSF innovators in a TEDx-style format. Attendees will be immersed in diverse perspectives — from advances in precision medicine to new models of patient care — through stories that bring cutting-edge science to life. This session offers inspiration and accessible ways for alumni to engage with and understand UCSF’s impact on the broader world.

UCSF clinicians, educators, and collaborators are transforming trauma and musculoskeletal care in some of the world’s most resource-limited locations. Drawing on firsthand experience working with the Institute for Global Orthopaedics and Traumatology (IGOT), David Shearer, MD, will share innovations in training and workforce strengthening, online education, and data-driven quality improvement that have enhanced outcomes in settings where resources are scarce and the burden of injury is greatest.
This session will examine how UCSF’s commitment to global health translates into sustainable, locally driven solutions through capacity building, interdisciplinary collaboration, and long-term partnerships. Alumni will gain insight into the real-world challenges of delivering care across diverse settings, the lessons learned that inform care at home and abroad, and the vital role UCSF continues to play in shaping the future of global trauma care.
