Chief, Division of Orthopaedic Trauma
Dr. Morshed is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in traumatic pelvis, arm, and leg injuries. He also researches skeletal injuries to develop new techniques for fracture repair and rehabilitation as well as how to prevent post-traumatic arthritis. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and over 10 textbook chapters. He has received numerous awards and grants for his work in clinical outcomes research in orthopedics and traumatology.
Dr. Morshed earned a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from UCSF, where he also completed a residency in orthopedic surgery. He earned a Master of Public Health degree and a doctoral degree in epidemiology from UC Berkeley. Dr. Morshed completed a clinical fellowship in orthopedic traumatology at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. In 2009, he joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He also serves as an attending surgeon at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.
