Dr. Shearer’s clinical interests include complex musculoskeletal injuries and acute and post-traumatic conditions involving the foot and ankle. He conducts research through the department’s Institute for Global Orthopedics and Traumatology to improve educational and research programs in developing countries through academic partnerships. Dr. Shearer earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, and a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at UCSF and fellowships in orthopedic trauma surgery and foot and ankle surgery at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, respectively.
