Dr. Abbasi-Asl is a core faculty member at UCSF’s Neuroscape Center, a Weill Neurohub investigator, director of data analytics at the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences. His research team investigates the role of advanced computational in understanding the brain’s functions and its related disorders. Before joining UCSF, he was a scientist at the Allen Institute for Brain Science in Seattle. Dr. Abbasi-Asl earned his doctoral and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer sciences at UC Berkeley, where he also developed interpretable machine-learning tools with applications in computational neuroscience. He also earned a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, Iran, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic).
