Dr. Fitzsimmons leads a department that offers a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, a doctoral degree in rehabilitation science, and four post-professional residency programs. She also oversees UCSF’s Faculty Ambulatory Practice, the largest provider of outpatient rehabilitation services in the nine-county Bay Area. Dr. Fitzsimmons practiced for a decade in acute care, acute rehabilitation, and outpatient neurology, bringing extensive clinical experience to her academic leadership. She serves on UCSF Health’s Leadership Council and Executive Committee, the School of Medicine’s Professional Development Committee, and various departmental committees. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, a master’s degree in physical therapy from Pacific University, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy Science degree from UCSF/San Francisco State University.
