UCSF clinicians, educators, and collaborators are transforming trauma and musculoskeletal care in some of the world’s most resource-limited locations. Drawing on firsthand experience working with the
Institute for Global Orthopaedics and Traumatology (IGOT), David Shearer, MD, will share innovations in training and workforce strengthening, online education, and data-driven quality improvement that have enhanced outcomes in settings where resources are scarce and the burden of injury is greatest.
This session will examine how UCSF’s commitment to global health translates into sustainable, locally driven solutions through capacity building, interdisciplinary collaboration, and long-term partnerships. Alumni will gain insight into the real-world challenges of delivering care across diverse settings, the lessons learned that inform care at home and abroad, and the vital role UCSF continues to play in shaping the future of global trauma care.
